SEM Link, Inc.

Project Goals

SEM Link, Inc. is an Atlanta nonprofit that has connected K-12 youth to STEM careers and role models since 2005, came to us after losing their entire website when their hosting expired—no site, no files, no backup. For an organization in the middle of active programming, fundraising, and partnership outreach, that meant losing their primary credibility asset overnight. The immediate goal was to restore a trustworthy online presence fast, so funders, families, and volunteers could still find and verify the organization. The longer-term goal was a complete rebuild: a modern site that tells the founder’s story, presents the program model clearly, routes visitors to volunteer and partnership opportunities, surfaces press coverage, and makes donating simple.

Our Solution

We moved in two phases. First, we stood up a coming soon page carrying the organization’s vital information—mission, contact details, and donation access—so SEM Link, Inc. stayed reachable and credible while the full site was built. For the rebuild, we developed the site on WordPress using Elementor, structured around the nonprofit’s three core asks: volunteer, donate, and partner. We used Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to power the board of directors section, so the team can add, remove, or update leadership profiles through structured fields rather than rebuilding pages each time the board changes. Because board bios vary widely in length, we built a custom Elementor reveal widget that lets each bio expand and collapse—keeping the directory clean and scannable while still giving every board member room for a full biography. We also embedded PRLog to automatically surface the organization’s press releases on the news page, connected MightyCause for donations, and linked existing Google Forms for volunteer and partnership intake so the team could keep using workflows they already had in place. An Elementor contact form handles general inquiries, and the homepage features animated impact counters that bring the organization’s 20-year track record to life.

Key Features

  • WordPress site built with Elementor — A modern, mobile-friendly site the team fully owns and can easily update.
  • Coming soon page — A fast interim presence with vital info, deployed immediately after the site loss.
  • ACF-powered board directory — Board member profiles update through structured fields in seconds.
  • Custom expand/collapse widget — A purpose-built Elementor widget that lets board bios reveal more or less, keeping the page tidy without cutting content.
  • PRLog press feed — Press releases surface on the site automatically, no manual posting required.
  • MightyCause donations — A direct, trusted path for supporters to give.
  • Google Form integrations — Volunteer and partnership intake routed to the team’s existing forms.
  • Contact form — A simple Elementor form for general inquiries.
  • Animated impact counters — Key numbers—youth served, career pathways, years of service—count up as visitors scroll.
  • Mobile-responsive design — Optimized for phones, tablets, and desktops.

Results

SEM Link, Inc. went from having no website at all to a complete, modern digital home—without a prolonged gap in their online presence. The coming soon page kept the organization findable and credible during the rebuild, and the new site now does real work: it tells the founder’s story, explains the hybrid program model, showcases recent funders like the Simons Foundation and Amazon, and gives every visitor a clear path to volunteer, donate, or partner. Behind the scenes, ACF-powered board sections mean the team can keep content current without technical help, and the PRLog feed keeps press coverage flowing in automatically—leaving SEM Link, Inc. with a platform that’s both resilient and genuinely easy to maintain.
